United Way of Gordon County surpasses 2017 record-breaking campaign pledge total

- Staff Reports

United Way of Gordon County’s (UWGC) Board of Directors wishes to thank everyone who contributed to the most successful fund raising campaign in UWGC history. More than $826,000 was pledged from the Gordon County community, to be used to support the 18 United Way agencies working right here in Gordon County.

Board President Chris Tarpley, along with Campaign Chairperson Michelle Frix Ward unveiled the surprising number to representatives from the UWGC Board, Young Leaders Society, agency partners and our community partners on Tuesday, March 6 at the Calhoun Depot. Just as was done last year, the unveiling was streamed live and can be seen on UWGC Facebook page thanks to Ashley Goble, director of Communications and Community Involvement.

“We are so fortunate to live in such a great community,” said President Tarpley. “We have so many employees that contributed through their workplace along with their employers. Seeing the tremendous increase over last year’s record setting campaign is amazing.”

“We are so excited about all the individual donors who love the community and support the agencies as well as all the board members and agencies that worked to make this community campaign such a success,” said Campaign Chairperson Michelle Frix Ward. “Our people are so good to support causes that help our community.”
