Sonoraville wins tri-match at Fields Ferry over Ringgold, Cass
The Sonoraville boys golf team welcomed Ringgold and Cass to Fields Ferry on Wednesday afternoon and came away with a solid victory thanks to some impressive rounds by multiple golfers.
The Phoenix were led by Destin Summers and Paxton Jarrett, who each shot a 41. Ryan Redd added a 42, and Blake Rouzee carded a 43 to round out the team score.
Also completing rounds for the Phoenix were Lane Worley (48), Cody Grantham (50), Christian Balistreri (43) and Tucker Murray (46.
Sonoraville will be back in action on Tuesday when they play in the Area 4-AAA Sectional Tournament at Fields Ferry starting at 8 a.m.
In other recent prep sports news: through the area on Thursday afternoon forced several changes to the schedule for local teams as they opened the state tournament.
Calhoun’s first-round baseball playoff series against Lovett was pushed back to Friday and will start with a doubleheader at 5 p.m. If Game 3 is nec- essary, it will be played at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Sonoraville and Calhoun girls’ soccer matchups in the first round originally scheduled for Thursday were also pushed back. The Lady Jackets will visit Westminster on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Sonoraville will host Pace Academy on Saturday with a time to be announced.
The Calhoun boys and Gordon Central boys soccer teams will open up state tournament play on Friday with Calhoun hosting Stone Mountain at 6 p.m. and the Warriors visiting Putnam County at 7 p.m.
