Florida’s Kessler named to All-SEC Team, All-SEC Freshman

– Three members of the University of Florida women’s tennis team appear on the Southeaste­rn Conference first team, the conference office announced today.

Anna Danilina, former Calhoun High standout McCartney Kessler and Josie Kuhlman each landed on the AllSEC First Team. Kessler also appears on the SEC All-Freshman team.

Anna Danilina - 2018 First Team All-SEC

SEASON Singles 26-10 (Dual 12-6, SEC 10-1); Doubles 15-8 (Dual 12-7, SEC 6-1)

• Leads team in overall singles wins this season

• Clinching dual match singles record: 0-1 (vs. Georgia Tech)

• Clinching doubles-point match record: 3-2

• 10-match singles win streak vs. SEC opponents ended in SEC Tournament quarterfin­al

McCartney Kessler First Team All-SEC

SEASON Singles 17-7 (Dual - 2018 17-5, SEC 11-1); Doubles 16-10 (Dual 16-7, SEC 9-3)

• Leads team in dual match singles wins

• Clinching dual match singles record: 9-1 (loss vs. Texas)

• Clinching doubles-point match record 7-5

• 12-match singles win streak vs. SEC opponents ended in SEC Tournament semifinal

• at South Carolina (April 7), was at 3-3 in the third before a 4-hour rain delay (team score 2-2, singles played first) and returned to defeat #31 Hadley Berg (SC) 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3

• SEC Freshman of the Week (for week of April 2-8)

Josie Kuhlman - 2018 First Team All-SEC

SEASON Singles 21-7 (Dual 13-5, 5-2); Doubles 18-7 (Dual 16-7, SEC 9-3)

• Clinching dual match singles record: 6-3 (big wins at Stanford, 4-3; at South Carolina 4-2)

• Clinching doubles-point match record: 9-5

• at South Carolina (April 7), led 2-1 in the third before a 4-hour rain delay (team score 2-2, singles played first) and returned to clinch the team win over Mia Horvit, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2

• 30th Gator to win 100 career singles matches (milestone win was vs. Oklahoma State’s Marina Guinart in the semifinals of the Dick Vitale Clay Court Championsh­ips on Nov. 5, 2017) • Singles All-American • 2018 SEC Scholar-Athlete for tennis. Owns a 4.0 GPA in public relations

In other recent college tennis news:

– For the second consecutiv­e year, Florida’s McClain Kessler, a former Calhoun High standout, has been named to the Southeaste­rn Conference Community Service Team for men’s tennis, as announced by the league office.

Since arriving at Florida the Gators team captain has been heavily involved with Aces in Motion and Gator Tracks. Kessler has logged numerous hours of communi- ty service helping the underserve­d youth living on the east side of Gainesvill­e with tennis clinics and after-school programs that Aces in Motion outs on. With Gator Tracks Kessler and others provide shoes for students in Alachua County.

Kessler has been a standup student-athlete both on and off the court. This season Kessler has posted a 6-4 singles record and a 10-10 doubles record on court two.
