Calhoun native Puja Patel graduates from pharmacy school at Auburn University

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn University’s James I. Harrison School of Pharmacy held its Spring 2018 commenceme­nt ceremony on Tuesday, May 8 at Auburn Arena.

The class of 2018 included 142 students receiving the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Seven students received Master of Science ( M. S.) degrees, and five others received Doctor of Philosophy ( Ph. D.) degrees. The ceremony included a commenceme­nt address from Dr. Dell Barker Walker, a member of the Class of 1985, while the student address was given by Paul Paratore. Auburn University President Dr. Steven Leath offered congratula­tory remarks.

The class i ncluded representa­tives from seven foreign countries, including China, Egypt, India, Korea, Libya, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia; and 20 states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticu­t, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississipp­i, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvan­ia, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia

Among the Pharm.D. graduates was Calhoun, Georgia native Puja Sunil Patel. A 2010 graduate of Gordon Central High School, she is the daughter of Sunil and Trupti Patel and the wife of Nathan Browning. Previously, she received a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Georgia in 2014.
