Johnathan Castillo Calhoun, Sr.

Castillo played multiple positions for the Jackets, including stopper, defensive midfielder and right back, and the senior excelled at all of them. He was the team’s defensive MVP according to his coach, and he also contribute­d five goals and three assists.

Eduardo Fajardo Calhoun, Soph.

A valuable goalkeeper is one of the most important commoditie­s a soccer team can have, and Fajardo was that and more this year. The sophomore recorded 80 saves and six shutouts and also had a powerful leg that started Calhoun’s offensive attack.

Wilson Falla Gordon Central, Sr.

Falla served as the engine of Gordon Central’s offensive attack as a midfielder led with his words and actions. The senior scored several clutch goals and set up even more during the Warriors’ run to their second straight Class AA State Playoff berth.

Angel Fraire Gordon Central, Sr.

Fraire made an incredible impact with his hard work on the defensive side of the field for the Warriors. The senior stopper/sweeper neutralize­d many offensive threats by opponents before they got started and did a great job communicat­ing with his teammates.

Gerardo Fraire Calhoun, Sr.

Fraire was Calhoun’s second highest goal scorer with 14 goals from his striker position during his senior season. He also set up his teammates several times with seven assists and was named to the All-Region First Team thanks to his skill and production.

Dawson Holbrook Sonoravill­e, Sr.

Holbrook was Sonoravill­e’s leading scorer as a senior with 18 goals. The striker used his speed and ability to score inside the box, which made a difference in several games. He gave defenses headaches with his relentless pursuit of the ball.

Oscar Huerta Calhoun, Sr.

Huerta was a key to much of Calhoun’s success even when the stats didn’t show it as he made things happen with his speed, vision, hard work and execution. The junior played right-winger, center midfielder and striker and pitched in eight goals and two assists.

Julio Lopez Calhoun, Sr.

Lopez was a great asset in the back for the Jackets as the senior helped lead Calhoun’s shutdown defense. The defender and team captain helped start many of the Jackets’ offensive attacks, and his long and accurate throw-ins set up several goals.

Yorlin Piedrasant­a Sonoravill­e, Soph.

Piedrasant­a was a playmaker in the center of the field and helped the Phoenix keep possession of the ball. The sophomore center mid scored 10 goals and contribute­d 11 assists as his vision, long-range shots and dribbling skills made things hard on defenses.

Brent Silvar Gordon Central, Sr.

Silvar’s athletic ability, size and natural instincts made him a very valuable part of Gordon Central’s success this past season. The senior stepped in as goalkeeper at the beginning of the year and made countless clutch saves to keep his team within striking distance.

Alexander Soldevilla Sonoravill­e, Sr.

Soldevilla’s season was cut short due to a knee injury, but the senior midfielder made the most of his time on the field with 17 goals. He produced that kind of output despite only playing in three region games for the Phoenix, who narrowly missed a State berth.
