If I wrote my own story

-

you didn’t get to read it, just email me, and I’ll explain.

As I was writing last week’s article, I felt like I had to really explain the atmosphere that was there at the game. In doing so, I was worried that I was taking too much time to get to Jesus. I thought to myself…” This is a Christian article, why am I writing so much about the game? When am I going to get to Jesus?” I questioned myself… “Is there going to be enough Jesus in this story?”

I attended a revival service at Damascus Baptist Church one time. My former pastor Larry Hibberts is the pastor there now, and my friend Terry Trivette was preaching that night. Just before giving the invitation, Terry asked a huge question that I had never heard. He asked… “If you, or someone else was writing a biography of your life, how much Jesus would be in it?”

Seriously, this is great question.

The truth is, when we claim to be a follower if Jesus Christ, are we following Him all the time, or just most of the time? Are we allowing Jesus to directly lead us all week, or just one day and a night? How much of our day is devoted to Jesus?

John 15: 4- 8 reads, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”

In other words… Jesus is telling us that IF we’re not in His will constantly, we will not bear spiritual fruit. Just like branches of a grape vine will not produce grapes, apart from the vine. If we’re not producing the kind of fruit that leads others to faith in Christ, then what is the use of us being here? On the other hand… If we remain in the will of God, we will bear much fruit and glorify God the Father.

So how much Jesus would it take to write your life’s story, a little or a lot? When we truly surrender our lives to Christ, then the story becomes about Him, not about us. We become the supporting cast, and He is the main character. It’s either all about Him, or it isn’t. Make the story about Him and you will Be Blessed.
