Ralston resigns as Calhoun High girls basketball head coach

- Staff reports

According to the school’s Facebook page, Calhoun High School girls basketball coach Kayla Ralston has resigned as head coach on Tuesday after two seasons at the helm.

Here is more from the school’s release:

“In 2017, Coach Kayla Ralston assumed the role of girls’ head basketball coach and has been strongly committed to the Lady Jackets over the course of the last two years. As a new teacher and young coach, Ralston adopted the motto, “Trust the Process”, which she coined as a mind-set for the girls, and herself, to remain growth-minded. Ralston remains 100% committed to serve in the dual role of teacher and coach; however, she has come to realize that she may best serve in a head coach’s position later in her career. Ralston will step down as head coach and continue to serve students in her role as the PE Department Chair at the campus and assistant softball coach. The administration of Calhoun High School would like to thank Coach Ralston for her continued service to our program. With Ralston’s resignation, a thorough search for her replacement will take place. School leadership and the athletic director will work together to identify a qualified candidate who is the best fit for this vacancy and for the Calhoun community. We will continue to strive for a level of excellence within all programs at Calhoun High School and look forward to the future success of our girls’ basketball program.”

There will be more coverage of the coaching change in the following editions of the Calhoun Times, and on our website at CalhounTimes.com.
