Jackets, Lady Jackets pick up victories over Cedartown

The Calhoun boys relied on a timely goal and stout defense, while the Calhoun girls continued its recent stellar scoring streak.

The Calhoun soccer team tacked on another early season victory to the win column with a 1-0 road victory over Cedartown on

Friday.

Jackets, accumulati­ng two saves.

The Calhoun boys will be back in action on Tuesday, as the squad hits the road to face the Coosa Eagles.

The Calhoun girls also enjoyed an extremely successful evening as it squared off against Cedartown, coasting past the Lady Bulldogs en rout to a commanding 8-0 win.

The Lady Jackets continued its scorching scoring streak, compiling seven goals in the first half. In a mercy-rule-shortened second-half, the team tacked on one more.

Emily Sorrow starred in this one, putting forth a hat trick by racking up three goals. Also netting goals for Calhoun was Melany Sanchez, Mari Morales and Iris Roman, with Hannah Dimeler notchinga pair of scores. Morales, Laurel Putnam, Adamirez Perez, Janna Santori and Dimeler all submitted assists for the Lady Jackets.
