Week of May 12

A prayer meeting, titled “Awake America,” will be held at the Calhoun Recreation Department, 601 S. River St. in Calhoun, on Thursday at noon. Meetings will follow on the third Thursday of every month. The meetings are aimed at praying for America. For more informatio­n go to awakeameri­ca.info or call Pastor Rusty Haradon at 678-918-6120.

Danny and Wanda Pelfrey will be at Lighthouse Christian Bookstore, 196 WC Bryant Parkway, on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., to sign their new book, “Like a Tree.” It is the fourth book in the Davis Morgan Mystery series. Copies will be available for $13.95. Other of their books will be available for those who desire them.

Week of May 19

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will host their annual homecoming service on May 19. The service begins at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Winfred Casey as the guest speaker. Special music will be performed by Reborn Ministries. Lunch will follow the service at the Fellowship Hall.

Week of June 2

Calhoun First Presbyteri­an Church will host its annual dinner auction on June 8. Admission is free. Meal tickets are $5, with the meal starting at 5:30 p.m. Auction starts at 6:30 p.m. The meal will include white beans, cole slaw, cornbread and desserts.

Week of June 9

Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3882 Red Bud Road, will have Vacation Bible School on June 9, from 6-8:45 p.m., as well as June 10-13, from 6:308:45 p.m. The theme is “diving deep into faith.” Supper will be served each night and classes for ages 3 and up.

♦ The Basement will hold Nights of Worship weekly each Saturday, with fellowship at 5:30 p.m. and worship at 6:30 p.m. The Basement is located at 903D S. Wall St. in Calhoun beside the Family Dollar Store.

♦ Oostanaula Baptist Outreach Ministry will be open on the third Saturday of each month, taking donations for food and clothing. The ministry is located at 156 Old Rome Dalton Road.

♦ Oakman Baptist Church OVERFLOW Pantry distribute­s food items for the surroundin­g community after its 11 a.m. Sunday Worship at 2706 U.S. 411 in Ranger. For more informatio­n, visit the church’s Facebook page or call 706-264-2555.

♦ There is a new Anglican church in formation for the Whitfield/Gordon County area. This new mission parish will be affiliated with the Anglican Church in North America through the Anglican Diocese of the South. A place and time of gathering is being determined based on replies.
