On Saturday, Sept.

12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Save Georgia’s Hemlocks will offer an online workshop on how to save endangered hemlock trees, a beautiful and important feature in our North Georgia communitie­s. Gordon County Schools will host a special education private/ homeschool consultati­on for students with disabiliti­es on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 9 a.m. at the GCS central office building, 205 Warrior Path, Calhoun. Topics of discussion will include the Child Find process; the determinat­ion of proportion­ate share of funds available to serve parentally placed private and home school children with disabiliti­es, including how that amount is calculated; the consultati­on procedures and how they operate; how, where, and by whom special education services and/or related services will be provided and a discussion of the type of services, and wow the Local Education Agency (LEA) will notify private/ home school officials of the reason why the LEA chose not to provide services if the LEA and provider disagree. Child find requiremen­t notice: All children ages 0-21 are entitled to a free education, and that includes children with physical, mental or emotional problems. Tallatoona Community Action Partnershi­p Inc. is hosting

“Pathway to Empowermen­t,” a program that provides services and supports individual­s and their families who are committed to changing their lives. Families can receive training and guidance regarding career pathways, education, financial literacy, job training and life skills developmen­t. The program is by appointmen­t only. Celebrate Recovery meets every Tuesday at 100 Peter St., Suite 80, in Calhoun. A free dinner is served at 6 p.m., following by large group at 6:45 and small group at 8 p.m.

The Oostanaula Community Club hosts a monthly bluegrass jam on the last Saturday of every month, except in March and October. Dinner is begins at 5 p.m. for $7 a plate. Music starts at 6 p.m. For more informatio­n, call 770-608-2050.
