The Gordon County Republican Party meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. at BB&T Park in Downtown Calhoun. Rep. Barry Loudermilk will be sharing what is happening in Washington. The party will have Trump signs, bumper stickers and voter guides.
The Garden Buddies are sponsoring a Scarecrow Trail at 1269 Nickelsville Road N.E. in Resaca on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit the scarecrows and booths with plants, yard art, crafts and collectibles for sale. Sugar Valley United Methodist Church will be hosting a homecoming on Sunday Oct. 18. No breakfast or Sunday school. Morning worship service will begin at 11 a.m. with special music. A covered dish lunch will take place after the service.
The regular monthly meeting of the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission (NWGRC) Council will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Rome Civic Center, 400 Civic Center Drive in Rome. A meeting of the NWGRC Personnel and
Financial Management (PFM) Committee will be held at 9:30 a.m., immediately prior to the NWGRC Council meeting. This PFM Committee meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the NWGRC’s Rome office, 1 Jackson Hill Drive.
Calhoun City Schools has scheduled an initial consultation for private/ homeschool parents Thursday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m. at the Calhoun City Schools Central Office, 334 S. Wall St., Calhoun. At the consultation, the following will be discussed: 1) The Child Find process and how parentally placed homeschool children with disabilities can participate. 2) The determination of the proportionate share amount of federal funds available to serve parentally placed homeschool children with disabilities. 3) The consultation procedures among the Local Education Agency (LEA) and home school representatives and how the process will operate. 4) How, where and by whom special education services and related services will be provided for parentally place homeschooled children with disabilities, including a discussion of the type of services. 5) How the LEA will provide a written explanation to home school officials of the reason why the LEA chose not to provide services if the LEA and home school officials disagree.
