LAU, Hilda Wilson

Hilda Wilson Lau, age 86 of Calhoun, GA, passed away peacefully of natural causes at home in the presence of family on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Hilda was born on September 11, 1935, in Whitfield County, GA, daughter of the late Milton R. Wilson and Lillie Gertrude “Trudy” Gazaway Wilson. Hilda was an expert seamstress, a baker renowned for her delicious pound cake, and she enjoyed crafting for her family. She was also a member of Swamp Creek Baptist Church. Hilda was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Hilda is survived by son, Mike Lau and his wife Sarah of Calhoun; three daughters, Teresa Manning and her husband Sam of Chattanooga, TN, Glenda Ford and her her late husband Roger of Calhoun, GA, and Cheryl Gamble and her late husband Alex Gamble III of Calhoun, GA; grandchildren, Annie Herrington Foreman and her husband Cliff, Mitchell Ford and his wife Erin, Josh Ford and his wife Brittanie, Arthur Lau Hullender and his wife Charlotte, Chad Lau, Daniel Lau, Molly Manning, Nate Manning, and Erick Manirakiza; eleven great-grandchildren; and special friend, Debbie Henderson.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Hilda will be held at Swamp Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, December 11th at 11:00am. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service on December 11th from 9:00am to 11:00am at Swamp Creek Baptist Church. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Swamp Creek Baptist Church.
