All children ages 0-21 are entitled to a free education, and that includes children with physical, mental or emotional problems. Some of these children are not identified. Please help us locate and identify them. The Oostanaula Community Club will host a celebratio­n of life of Kendra Wells, Saturday, May 14, from noon to 5 p.m. with food, a cake walk and auction and prizes.

Calhoun City Schools will host a school furniture and equipment surplus sale, Saturday, May 14, from 9 to 11 a.m., at 101 Raymond King Drive in the bus loop of the Calhoun Primary and Elementary School complex. Cash or check only, pickups must be taken during sale — no holds.

Paw Angels will host its Run for the Rescues 5K on Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m., at the Calhoun Black and Yellow Park, 1000 Highway 53 Spur. Call 770-548-8938 for more info or to become an event sponsor.

New Zion Baptist Church, Roland Hayes Parkway, will host its Home Coming Sunday, May 15, at 10:30 a.m., with a special singing by

Dove Quartet. Message will be by Rev. Windord Casey, and a meal will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 574 Pleasant Hill Rd., will host its annual homecoming, Sunday, May 15. Services will start at 10:30 a.m. There will be a musical performanc­e by the David Glass Family and the morning message will be by Rev. Michael Hunt. On Wednesday, May 18, Gordon County Child Advocacy Center will host “Protecting Your Children: Advice from Child Molesters”, a class focused on educating parents so they can better protect their children. The class will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will take place at the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce, 300 S. Wall Street. Sonoravill­e High School will hold its 2022 commenceme­nt Wednesday, May 25, at 7 p.m., at The Furnace, 7340 Fairmount Highway.

Gordon Central High School will hold its 2022 commenceme­nt Thursday, May 26, at 8 p.m. at Ratner Memorial Stadium, 355 Warrior Path.

Calhoun High School will hold its 2022 commenceme­nt Friday, May 27, at 8 p.m., at Hal Lamb Field in Phil Reeve Stadium, 100 Yellow Jacket St.

Calhoun VFW Post

5376, 406 W. Line St., will host its annual Memorial Day weekend Car and Bike Show, Saturday, May 28. Breakfast will be at 8 a.m., bike ride registrati­on at 8:30 with kick stands up at 10, with start and finish at the post. The Harris Arts Center, 212 S. Wall St., will host a 135th birthday celebratio­n honoring Gordon County native tenor Roland Hayes, Friday, June 3, at 7 p.m., featuring tenors Timothy Miller and Brent Davis, along with pianist Will Buthod. Admission is $15, or $12 for students and seniors, and $10 for HAC members.

Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1411 Rome Road, will host a Vacation Bible School for ages 4 through 12, June 6 through 10 from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Daniel’s courage throughout captivity in Babylon will be the theme.

The Atlanta Braves 2021 World Series trophy will be in downtown Calhoun at the Depot, 109 S. King St., Friday, June 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
