Two Calhoun men were arrested Sunday for threatening staff at AdventHealth Gordon.
According to a Calhoun Police Department report:
Just before noon on Sunday, March 24, a Calhoun Police Department officer was dispatched to AdventHealth Gordon for an altercation that had occurred.
When the officer arrived, a nurse stated that she had been assessing a patient when she began to complain of chest pain. The patient’s son, Jonathan Riffle, 29, screamed in the nurse’s face stating “motherf — -er, she can’t be still”.
The nurse told Riffle not to speak to her that way, and Riffle got back in her face and cursed at her. The nurse said that she was afraid that he would hit her, and requested security.
The nurse left the room to retrieve medication and a doctor to assess the patient, and Riffle threatened to find her in the parking lot and hurt her. The nurse again told him not to threaten her, and warned that she would call the police.
Riffle allegedly said, “It’s not a threat, it’s a promise. I’m not scared of the f — -ing police. Y’all better make sure I don’t see any of y’all anywhere. I’ll be back.”
A security guard escorted Riffle off the premises. The nurse reentered the room to deliver medication to her patient and Jonathan Riffle’s father, Authur Riffle, 71, told her, “You’re worried about my son but you don’t know what I’m capable of.”
The security guard attempted to escort Authur Riffle from the premises, but he cornered both the nurse and the security guard in the room with his fist balled up. The nurse stated that Authur was screaming and cursing, and that the security guard had to grab Authur’s hand to prevent him from striking and harming her.
Authur Riffle was also escorted off the premises. That series of events was corroborated by several other witnesses within the hospital.
ARREST,
Warrants were obtained for both Jonathan and Authur Riffle for disorderly conduct, felony terroristic threats and acts, simple
assault, and felony obstructing or hindering emergency professionals.
Officers arrested Jonathan Riffle at his home just before 11 p.m. and arrested Authur Riffle at a traffic stop just before 7 p.m. Both men were taken to Gordon County Jail without incident where they remain pending bond.
