1966Joe McGloine torched the twines for a game-high 20 points as Holy Trinity of Central Falls became the only Blackstone Valley area champion in the R. I. CYO Basketball Tournament by defeating St. Patrick’s of Providence 49-39 to capture the Grammar School crown. Ken Adam added 12 points and Tom Vaudreuil nine for the locals. In the Intermediate Division, Sacred Heart of Pawtucket was beaten in the finals by Mount St. Carmel of Providence with John Acheson and Al Fortin caging nine points each in a losing effort.
1986Gloria Aptt rolled a high three series of 337 and Agnes Choiniere took the high single with 126 to capture top honors in the weekly matches of the St. Jean’s Women’s Duckpin Bowling League. Other leaders were Terry Wilson 117331, Madeline Tuffy 117-324, Edna Beaulieu 119-322, Flo Lachance 113-318, Choiniere 306, Cheryl Sylvestre 113-306, Rita Collins 106-306, Elena Maloney 107-305, Tillie LaRose 123, Janet Catineault 115, Debbie Ingham 110 and Ann Ingham 107.
1996Central Falls may be young and relatively inexperienced, but head coach Nick Pagliaro liked what he saw when his Warriors posted an impressive 15-5, 15-13, 4-15, 15-11 win over Hope in an Injury Fund volleyball matchup. Senior standout Angie Chirinos, who was a member of the 1994 class state championship team, finished with eight kills and three aces, senior Hannah Tarawali added three kills, as did sophomore Marargely Ocascio, while sophomore Vanessa Espinosa also played well.
