God will make things new

ast week, I went for a walk with my neighbor, and she told me about a news report she had heard on a television station. It was about a 2-year-old girl who walked outside her home. Yet, accidently, in an instant, the little girl fell into the family pool. I gasped as my neighbor continued the story.

The girl’s mother was in the house at the time. But soon began frantically looking for the child. Over five minutes later, the mother found the little girl floating on the water in the pool. Her small body was unresponsive.

In desperation and trembling, the mother called for medical assistance. The mother was completely numb with shock. Within minutes, the fire department, the police and rescue team came to help. Eyes full of tears, the reality of the situation hit the mother like a ton of bricks. And the girl was rushed to the hospital.

For more than 90 minutes, the doctors performed CPR on the lifeless child. They tried repeatedly to get her heart going again. Nonetheless, the little girl’s heart would not beat on its own. The doctors repeated their efforts over and over. Nothing happened. They kept on trying. But the girl was unresponsive. Heartbroken, they confirmed her death.

However, an hour later, a miracle happened. The heart of the little girl, who was declared dead, began beating. She breathed again. Her life was once again renewed. And the girl recovered.

Within weeks, the completely-healthy little girl returned to a normal life. Amazed, the experts couldn’t explain this divine miracle.

Something may have happened in your life that caused you to think your hopes and dreams for the future are gone. But, don’t quit, for like this little girl, miracles happen. Remember, God is close to the brokenhearted. And right now, He is close to you. God has seen every injustice. He will repair your broken heart, and rest assured He will “restore double to you.” (Zechariah 9:12).

Thus, let the past be the past. Get your hopes up again. Get your dreams back. A new beginning is in store for you. Pray, as God can make all things new. For God is gently whispering to you today: “Don’t give up; tell your heart to beat again…”

• Have you been hurt? God will make all things new, so tell your heart to: Beat again.

• Did you experience a setback? God will make all things new, so tell your heart to: Beat again.

• Have you encountered a loss? God will make all things new, so tell your heart to: Beat again.

• Did someone deceive you? God will make all things new, so tell your heart to: Beat again.

• Do you have to start over? God will make all things new, so tell your heart to: Beat again.

Whatever you may be confronting, no matter what situations have come and have tried to break your positive spirit, you can regain your life and be full of happiness, peace, and purpose again. So, laugh again. Love again. Dream again. Make plans again.

A while back, I heard about a multi-faceted singer, songwriter, and musician who had some serious medical issues. At a doctor’s office visit, it was revealed that there was a large mass on her thyroid. The disease, called hypothyroidism, threatened her precious voice and her life.

The singer needed immediate surgery, for the mass in her neck could cut off her ability to breathe. So she had to find a surgeon quickly. Some told her that she may never sing again. Or there would be a slim chance that she’d ever sing with her full vocal range. But that report was not an option for her. The singer didn’t give up on her complete healing. Determinedly, she decided to put her hope in God, trusting His report that said, “Whose report will you believe?” (Isaiah 53:1).

After much research, the singer found a surgeon. She continued to pray and praise the God of miracles. The complicated surgery was performed, and there were weeks of recovery.

Against all odds, two months later, she could sing. Within six months, she had full range of her beautiful vocal sound. And today, this extraordinary lady continues to use her voice to spread the word of God in the most extraordinary way.

Like this singer, God has endless ways to bless you, heal you and prosper you. Keep persisting. God is about to show you the exceeding greatness of His power. Believe! Do not give up hope! For God has a way of turning around the most difficult, desperate situations for your good. In the Scriptures, God turned things around for Bartimaeus, and his sight was recovered. (Mark 10: 46-52). God turned things around for Hezekiah and granted him fifteen additional years of life. (Isaiah 38:1-2). And God can cause a turnaround in your life, too.

So look beyond your problems and look to God to see you through. Then, go forward, secure in the knowledge that His plan for you is a plan of victory.

Placed in our front-yard garden, we have a lovely stepping stone with an inscription engraved on it that reads, “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.” These words, from theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, serve as a reminder to me that a sense of serenity is, indeed, a gift from God offered to us whenever we need it. Just knowing this, I feel I can face whatever situation might loom before me.

And in times of uncertainty, we can be at peace as we put into practice what the rest of The Serenity Prayer suggests: “Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.”

God wants the best for you. And that includes….His peace.

Today, expect some miracles, big and small to take place. God is in the business of miracles. They happen every day. And a miracle is on its way to you.
