1954

John Knowles, president of the Industrial Duckpin Bowling League, presented the individual trophies at the annual awards banquet. John Lizak copped the top men’s average with 127, while Aurore Bliss led the women’s division with 100. Roger Hamel rolled the high three series with 465 and Jeannette Vandale was the women’s winner with 344. Hank Letendre had the high single of 184 and Lillian Allard bowled a 145 single string to pace the ladies.

1963

Bob (Butch) Mendes, a slim junior right-hander, twirled a six-hitter, whiffed two and walked two to pace a hustling Pawtucket West nine to a stunning 4-2 upset over undefeated crosstown rival Tolman. Dan McKinnon drove in two runs, Earl Matthewson scored two runs and Don Travis laced a triple and tallied on a passed ball for the previously winless Rangers. Buster Mills ripped an RBI double, Chris Cute lined a triple and Jack Coppolino chipped in with two singles for the Tigers.

1974

Previously unbeaten Cumberland bowed to undefeated Woonsocket 6.5-5.5 at Winnesuket Country Club in a Northweste­rn Division golf match. Brothers Al and Dan Chabot accounted for all of the Clippers points. In other action, Lincoln dropped a 7.5-4.5 verdict to Smithfield at Kirkbrae Conutry Club with Marc Grilli the only individual winner for the winless Lions.
