EAST GREENWICH — Mount St. Charles senior Emily D’Abrosca continued her assault on Division II pitching Thursday afternoon against East Greenwich.

The senior, who is headed for the Albany College of Phramacy in the fall, went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, while freshman pitcher Victoria Young added three hits and four RBIs in a 16-1 five-inning road win over the Avengers.

Mount St. Charles (8-2 Division II) scored all the runs it would need in the opening inning, as Young sparked a seven-run uprising with a three-run triple. Young earned the win in the circle after allowing just two hits and no runs in three innings. Senior Taylor Newcomb pitched the final two innings and allowed two hits and run.

The Mounties, who also received three hits, three RBIs and a pair of runs scored from senior shortstop Marissa Santoro, are back in action Monday when one-loss South Kingstown comes to town.

WOONSOCKET — The Woonsocket softball team continues to show it can play with some of the top teams, but that elusive first win keeps slipping away from the reigning Division II champions.

For the second straight game, the Villa Novans scored the opening run at Cold Spring Park, but Thursday afternoon visiting East Providence scored three times in the second inning to secure a 4-1 road victory.

Woonsocket (0-9 Division I) received a pair of hits from junior starting pitcher Lundyn Forcier. Forcier’s first hit moved sophomore Abbie Roderick (single) to third base in the opening inning. Lauren Peloquin followed with an RBI single.
