Bellingham Senior Center news and happenings

BELLINGHAM — The Bellingham Council on Aging/Senior Center’s TRIAD group meets on the first Thursday of the month at 11 a.m.

This group is composed of seniors, a representative from the Norfolk County Sheriff's office, local clergy and businessmen. Everyone is welcome to come and join the conversation and learn what's new in the world of scams and other circumstances that particularly apply to seniors. Sign-up is available at the front desk of the Senior Center (located at 40 Blackstone St.)

•The Center’s Zentangle class will be held on Tuesday, May 16 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Seniors: if you have not tried Zentangle you might want to try it. This is a combination of relaxation, trying to let your inner self assert itself in a new method of drawing straight and curved lines. While the program costs $25 per person for each class, the Center has received a grant from the Harvard Pilgrim Foundation that will offset the cost.

The first 10 people to sign up will pay only $10 for the class and the materials. The sign-up is at the Center’s front desk and closes on Thursday, May 11. Fees must be paid at the time of sign up.

•Last month began the wire wrap jewelry class. This month, the class is moving to Tuesday, May 16, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Like Zentangle, it is part of a grant from the Harvard Pilgrim Foundation. The first 10 people to sign up will get a discounted rate of $10 for the cost of materials and the class. Sign up and pay by May 11.

•The Couriveau family is again sponsoring a tribute to their father and all veterans with a dinner and an entertainer on Saturday, May 20, at 5 p.m. There is no cost for veterans, all others will pay $10. Sign up and pay at the front desk.
