WOONSOCKET — Beatriz (Betty) S. Ayotte, 75, of Woonsocket died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence after a brief but aggressive battle w i th Leukemia. She was the loving wife of Richard R. Ayotte. They were married on May 10, 1980.

Born in Colón, Panama, she was the daughter of the late Ana Marchwicki. She lived in Blackstone for several years and was a longtime resident of Woonsocket. Betty was the coowner of Ayotte Printing on Cass Avenue and greeted customers with her warm and welcoming demeanor.

An active and adventurou­s woman, Betty was an avid tennis player, walked a mile-anda-half per day, and enjoyed country dancing. She also enjoyed many trips both domestical­ly and internatio­nally and really loved Hawaii. She had a great affinity for animals, including horses – her favorite breed Friesians of Majesty, and dogs – especially her special pal “PJ.” Betty had a special interest in the metaphysic­al studies and learning about many different philosophi­cal and religious traditions and their viewpoints on life.

No matter what came her way in life, Betty was resolute in her positive outlook. Her spirit of love and happiness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

In addition to her husband of 37 years she is survived by a son, Russell Kappelle, of Hawaii and his wife, Lynne. She was the mother of the late Kenneth and Lloyd Kappelle. She was the sister of Roberto Barrera and his wife Christine.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in honor of Betty’s courageous battle with Leukemia can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Rhode Island Chapter, 2348 Post Rd.
