Cumberland native graduates from St. Lawrence University
CANTON, N.Y. — Marco Amendola, of Cumberland, was one of more than 600 students who was awarded bachelor degrees from St. Lawrence University during Commencement ceremonies held in Canton, New York. Amendola received the degree of bachelor of arts and majored in philosophy. Amendola attended La Salle Academy.
Students named to spring President’s List at WNEU
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Western New England University congratulates close to 400 students who were named to the Spring Semester 2017 President's List. The following local students were named to President's List for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.80 or higher:
Austin Steeves, of Bellingham, majoring in Electrical Engineering; Kyle Wilkinson, of Pascoag, majoring in Mechanical Engineering; Katelyn O'Brien, of Cumberland, majoring in Marketing; Rachel Leclaire, of Lincoln, majoring in Psychology; and Amanda Gagnon, of Woonsocket, majoring in Psychology.
Cumberland’s Welt named to Alabama Dean’s List; graduates
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — University of Alabama student Emily Elizabeth Welt, of Cumberland, was named to the Dean's List for Spring 2017. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce & Business Administration. A total of 11,101 students enrolled during the 2017 spring semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's).
Local student named to Clarkson University Dean’s List
POTSDAM, N.Y. — Nicholas James Liotta, of Cumberland, a senior majoring in aeronautical engineering, was named to the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester at Clarkson University.
Dean's List students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.
Local students receive bachelor’s degrees at WPI Commencement
WORCESTER — Over 1,000 bachelor's degrees were awarded during Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s 149th commencement ceremony. Locals include: Taylor Flaxington, of Lincoln, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering; Cameron DiSpirito, of Cumberland, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering with distinction; Brittany Rebello, of Harrisville, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering with high distinction; Jarrod Peloquin, of Lincoln, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering with distinction; Alexander Draper, of Cumberland, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering with high distinction; Matthew Lepine, of Cumberland, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering with high distinction; and Andrew Bauer, of Cumberland, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering with high distinction.
Local students receive graduate degrees at WPI Commencement
WORCESTER — Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) began its 149th Commencement celebrations with the graduate students’ ceremony on Thursday, May 11, awarding nearly 800 master's and doctoral degrees. Locals honored include:
Anthony Spangenberger, of Cumberland, was awarded a doctor of philosophy degree in materials science and engineering; Baillie McNally of, Mapleville, was awarded a doctor of philosophy degree in materials science and engineering; Steven Dupre, of Pascoag, was awarded a master of science degree in fire protection engineering; Charles Koutsogiane, of Cumberland, was awarded a master of science degree in management; Andrew Bauer, of Cumberland, was awarded a master of science degree in mechanical engineering; and Alexander Draper, of Cumberland, was awarded a master of science degree in mechanical engineering.
President Laurie A. Leshin and Board of Trustees Chairman Jack T. Mollen presided over the ceremony.
