BVCHC community pharmacy opens its doors in Pawtucket

-

PAWTUCKET — Blackstone Valley Community Health Care (BVCHC) cut the ribbon on a state-of-the-art pharmacy on Friday, June 2, and the ceremony was marked by comments from BVCHC Executive Director Ray Lavoie Sr. and Population Health and Clinical Services Officer Dr. Michael Fine, along with Cardinal Health Director of Pharmacy Operations Management Kelly Morrison and John Awad, the lead pharmacist on site.

“Having a pharmacy as part of our practice makes life easier for our patients, and having a pharmacist as part of our team means patients will always get the best and most affordable medication when needed,” said Dr. Fine. “We look forward to serving the surrounding community as well, and welcome all area residents — even those that are not patients at BVCHC — to utilize this pharmacy and the services provided.”

The Blackstone Valley Community Pharmacy is fully operational and ready to serve all BVCHC patients and the surrounding community. The pharmacy accepts all insurance and will offer discounted medications through the 340B program.

“This pharmacy is proud to provide medications to all patients — regardless of their insurance coverage,” said Morrison. “We offer many discount programs to assist BVCHC patients who are uninsured.”

This pharmacy will allow one-stop shopping for all current patients by enabling them to pick up prescriptions from the pharmacy following a doctor’s visit.

Awad is in direct contact with BVCHC providers for refills and medication changes.

To better serve the community, Awad is fluent in Spanish and can understand Creole.

The pharmacy, located at 39 East Av. in downtown Pawtucket, is open to the public six days a week, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
