Stadium the new underground scene for bands on the rise
WOONSOCKET — Every big name in the music industry began on a small stage, performing in cafes, restaurants and bars before launching their careers into the stratosphere. In 1969, four musicians formed a group called The Reasons Why in their hometown of Topeka, Kansas. The following year, they changed their band's name to Kansas and the rest was history. (Incidentally, they’ll be playing the Stadium on Thursday, July 27)
Since its construction in 2013, the Marquee Room has become a launch pad for local bands with multiple sold-out performances. This summer, seize your chance to see several up-and-coming musicians and be the person who “saw them before they were big.”
The Beardogz — Thursday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Hailing from Northern Rhode Island, The Beardogz are an alternative/folk band taking the state by storm. They will play a diverse selection of original music along with some catchy covers of hits by the likes of Van Morrisson and Joni Mitchell.
The Beardogz were finalist in the 2017 WBRU Rock Hunt and recently released a new CD.
Moment of Clarity — Saturday, July 22 at 8 p.m.
Influenced by everything from yesterday's classics to today's alternative power rock, Moment of Clarity, from Fall River Mass., has shredded numerous battle of the band competitions with original hits and gritty covers of legendary bands from Audioslave to Zeppelin.
Aaron Lessard and His Band — Thursday, Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
You can expect a healthy dose of guitar shredding solos during an Aaron Lessard performance, backed by his band of jazz cats for good measure. From Billy Joel to John Mayer, Aaron draws heavy inspiration from great songwriters, bringing you a night of originals and a few covers too.
These concerts will be held in the Stadium Theatre’s Marquee Room located at 28 Monument Square, in Woonsocket.
Admission is $26. Tickets are available at the Stadium Theatre Box Office or by calling 401-762-4545 and online stadiumtheatre.com. at
