Ray LaMontagne at PPAC Oct. 21

PROVIDENCE — Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne is set to embark on his Just Passing Through acoustic tour this fall and will stop at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) ion Saturday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m.

The 25-date tour marks the first acoustic tour for LaMontagne in five years and will be highlighti­ng songs from his vast and varying body of work. He will be joined by John Stirratt from Wilco on acoustic bass, and the duo will be playing songs spanning across “Trouble,” “Till The Sun Turns Black,” “Gossip in the Grain,” “God Willin’& The Creek Don’t Rise,” “Supernova” and “Ouroboros.”

Tickets will go on sale at www.ppacri.org only on Friday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m.. Tickets will be available by phone at (401) 421-ARTS (2787) and at the PPAC Box Office on Monday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m.. The PPAC Box Office is located at 220 Weybosset Street in downtown Providence. Summer box office hours are in effect: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and two hours prior to curtain times on performanc­e days. Tickets are $39.50 to $79.50; all ticket prices include a $3 per ticket restoratio­n charge and are subject to change without notice.

Lamontagne received critical acclaim during his last acoustic tour: Consequenc­e of Sound said, “Hearing Ray LaMontagne perform live is a poignant and magical experience,” while The Boston Herald raved, “LaMontagne's voice remains a marvel, quiet and reflective one minute and forceful and impassione­d the next. It really is an amazing instrument.”

Ray LaMontagne has released six-studio albums, five of which have reached Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart and Billboard’s Digital Albums chart.
