BLACKSTONE — The Blackstone Police Department has launched its new website, which features online citizen reporting, crime tips and reports, as well as useful links and phone numbers.

The Police Department website had been on the town of Blackstone’s website, but is now blackstonepolice.org. separate at

The website was introduced last week to give residents an updated space to access department news and important information.

The new site features a sleek, user-friendly design with large photos and an intuitive menu system that provides easy navigation to news, downloadable forms and other resources.

Sections featured on the website include a frequently asked questions section, family continuity resources, fillable forms, and a section for residents to anonymously submit tips online.

The site also has a new section to request a police detail and residents will find a full department roster, including information about department divisions and helpful links.

“This site has been designed to provide our residents with information about the Blackstone Police Department and to allow them to explore specific programs offered by our department,” said Police Chief Ross A. Atstupenas. “We are always open to suggestions, new ideas and criticisms as we provide our service to the town

One of the new features is the online anonymous tip line.

“Our officers are working hard to patrol the community, but we can’t do it alone,” Atstupenas said. “If you see a vehicle or people that look out of place or suspicious, please do not hesitate to call us. Sometimes a simple phone call to the police can foil something that could have made you or someone else a victim.”

Atstupenas says the tip line can be an effective tool in helping fight the opioid crisis. “Opioid addiction has significantly impacted the Blackstone community,” he said. “Police officers and their partners at the fire department are administering Narcan to overdose patients at alarming rates – sometimes multiple times a day. With the launch of the new website, residents can now submit tips anonymously online and alert police to someone that may be selling drugs or where drugs are being sold.

The public also can access press releases, department news and crime prevention.

The website even has a Kids Page, which feature cartoons by award-winning car- toonist, artist and writer Jim Weicherding of Burrillville.

Weicherding’s popular cartoon characters are used by numerous non-profit organizations, police and fire departments, hospitals and clinics, commercial businesses, advertising agencies, media groups and child safety and health advocates nationwide.
