Winter bowling leagues at Walnut Hill Bowl

WOONSOCKET— Winter bowling leagues are now forming at Walnut Hill Bowl.

Have fun, exercise and meet new friends by joining a league now. Leagues are offered on Mondays at 1 p.m. (fourperson team, 32 weeks, starting Aug. 28); Tuesday at 1 p.m. (three-person team, 32 weeks, starting on Sept. 7); Thursday at 9 a.m. (five-person team, 32 weeks, starting on Sept. 7) or Fridays at 9:30 a.m. (three- or four-person team, 32 weeks, starting on Sept. 8).

Harris Library to live-stream footage of eclipse

WOONSOCKET — The Woonsocket Harris Public Library (303 Clinton St.) will offer a livestream solar eclipse viewing on the big screen in the large program room on Monday, Aug. 21, from 1:15 to 4 p.m.

Join the library for a viewing of the rare solar eclipse occurring all across America. Alive stream from NASA will be displayed for all to view. Come by the library and pick up a packet at the reference desk to learn the science and history behind solar eclipses. Viewing glasses are not provided, but there will be informatio­n and supplies to make your own pinhole projector.

Tolman High plans 55th reunion

PROVIDENCE — The Tolman High School Class of 1962’s 55th reunion is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel (One Orms St. in Providence).

Acoffee hour at 11 a.m. will be followed by a buffet luncheon, including clamcakes and chowder. Cost for admission to the reunion is $48 per person. Checks should be made payable to Janet Ross, Tolman Reunion, and mailed to Janet Aldrich Ross, 28 Lake Shore Drive, Johnston, RI, 02919.

Cumberland Lions Club Five Guys fundraiser

CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland Lions Club will be hosting a fundraiser at the Five Guys restaurant at the Lincoln Mall plaza on Thursday, Sept. 7. from 5 to 8 p.m.

The club will receive 10 percent of all proceeds raised through meal sales during the block of time. All participan­ts will have to do to participat­e in the fundraiser is stop by the restaurant to purchase dinner for their household.

The Cumberland Lions Club is a group of men and women who volunteer their services to help those less fortunate in the community and around the world, providing them with food, clothing, eye glasses, hearing aids, service dogs, disaster relief assistance and much more. Lions Club Internatio­nal (LCI) is the world’s largest community service organizati­on. Through its proud history, LCI has brought unparallel­ed humanitari­an service throughout the world. St. Ambrose Parish of Albion Clambake Sept. 10

LINCOLN— On Sunday, Sept. 10, St. Ambrose Parish of Albion will hold its annual Clambake from noon to 5 p.m. The event is open to the public and admission is free. On the menu will be clam cakes and chowder, hamburgers and hot dogs, dynamites, French fries, home-baked goods, homemade doughboys and steamers.

There will also be a large assortment of games for kids and adults; a basket raffle; live music by Christiana Rodi; and a Raffle Fundraiser (only 200 tickets will be sold; tickets are $100 each — 1st Prize: $2,000; 2nd Prize: $1,000; 3rd Prize: $1,000; 4th Prize: $500 and 5th Prize: $500) raffle drawing every hour from 1 p.m.; Grand Prize of $2,000 drawn at 5 p.m.; to buy raffle tickets, call St. Ambrose Rectory 401-333-1568.

Vendors needed for French Heritage Festival

WOONSOCKET — The Northern Rhode Island Council of the Arts seeks vendors for its 35th annual French Heritage Festival & Soiree, to be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, at River Island Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is free for this event, with special guest appearance­s and activities for the children.

The Soiree will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish Hall following the festival.
