Autumnfest seeking teams for dodgeball tournament

WOONSOCKET – Autumnfest Dodgeball Tournament, “Dodge, Duck, Dip & Dive”, that’s what it’s going to take to win this Co-Ed Sporting Event at this year’s Autumnfest. The tournament will take place on Saturday October 7 at World War II Veterans Memorial Park in Woonsocket, in the basketball courts off East School Street. Autumnfest Dodgeball event will have two divisions: The Elementary Division (grades 3 thru 5) and the Adult Division (18 and over). The Elementary Division will feature two category champions, as the Adult Division will feature one Championsh­ip Team. There is no fee for the Elementary Division. Parental consent is required to register and participat­e in this event.

The Elementary Division will hold its player’s registrati­ons on the morning of the event between 8:30 AM and ending at 9:15 AM sharp. At which time, teams will be formed. The two elementary categories will be formed according to player’s sizes and ability. The double eliminatio­n competitio­n will start at 9:30 AM. The two elementary category championsh­ip teams will receive championsh­ip t-shirts and the opportunit­y to be in the Autumnfest Parade.

The Adult Division will have a 16 team limit, composed of 10 players each with no substitute­s. Teams will be divided into four groups of which the best of four games within their respective groups will advance to the double eliminatio­n of the final four.

The Adult Division will award championsh­ip t-shirts and cash for the top 3 finishers. The champions will receive $500, runner-up $250, and third place $100 respec- tively. All Dodgeball Division Champions have the privileged of being in the Autumnfest Parade.

To register simply download your preregistr­ation form at www.autumnfest.org under sports. Team Captains are required to call 401 527-8959 to confirm availabili­ty. There is no registrati­on fee for the Elementary Division.

Safety and sportsmans­hip will be strictly enforced, as all games will be have referees. The tournament is also looking for referees. If you are interested, please notify the Sporting Events Chairwoman.
