NORTH SMITHFIELD - TURCOTTE, MATHEW R (SPC, US Army), 20, was killed accidental­ly during a combined arms live-fire training exercise at Fort Carson CO. Wednesday, August 23. 2017. Born in Providence. he was the beloved husband of Megan (Fothergill) Turcotte and the son of Raymond and Liza L. (Rivera) Turcotte. Matthew was a lifelong North Smithfield resident. He was a member of the cross country and football teams, graduating in 2015. After graduating, he joined the Army and was a Specialist assigned to the Army's 4th Infantry Division and had served in Kosovo. Dur-ing the two years that he served in the Army, he earned the Army Achievemen­t Medal, Na-tional Defense Service Medal. Armed Forces Expedition­ary Medal, Global War on Terror-ism Service Medal, Army Ser-vice Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon. and the NATO Medal. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his sis-ters, Kayla L. and Paige E. Tur-cotte, and his nephews Jason, Jr. and Julien Lennox. He was the paternal grandson of Ray. mond and Sheila (Chisholm) Turcotte; maternal grandson of Gilberto and Liberty (Rosario) Rivera and son-in-law of Diane Fothergill. He was the nephew of Ronald and Alan Turcotte. Donna Caccia. Debra Bellini. Gilbert and Darrell Rivera; and brother in-law of Naomi and Danielle Delannoy and uncle of Emily and Milo. Relatives and friends are in-vited to attend a Concelebra­ted Mass of Christian Burial, Satur-day. September 2. 2017. at 10am in The Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Cathedral Sq., Providence. Burial with mili-tary honors will be in the Inman Family Cemetery, Inman Rd.. Burrillvil­le. Visitation Friday. 4- 7pm in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Home, 643 Putnam Pike (Rt. 44), Greenville.
