Samaritans of RI celebrate 40th anniversar­y with concert

Jonathan Edwards, Tom Snow to perform Sept. 15 show as group marks four decades of suicide prevention work

PAWTUCKET – The Samaritans of RI’s Forget-MeNot Gallery welcomes singer/songwriter Jonathon Edwards and jazz pianist Tom Snow to the Pawtucket Arts Festival on September 15, 2017. The concert is presented as part of The Samaritans year-long 40th Anniversar­y.

Mr. Edward’s hits include “Honky Tonk Stardust Cowboy,” “Sometimes,” “One Day Closer,” “Don’t Cry Blue,” “Emma,” “Everybody Knows Her,” “Athens County,” and “Shanty.” One of his most notable songs “Sunshine (Go Away Today),” released in 1971, still connects with faithful followers and new fans alike.

“Participat­ing in the Pawtucket Arts Festival has enabled The Samaritans to connect with Rhode Islanders in ways we never imagined,” said Denise Panichas, Executive Director. “That is why we are excited Mr. Edwards will be joining us for this special celebratio­n of the arts in the city and for The Samaritans’ 40th Anniversar­y. He is a thoughtful, down-to-earth artist who has inspired audiences across the ages. We know this will be a magical night for everyone.”

The concert will take place at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 50 Park Place, Pawtucket. Tickets are $30 per person until September 8 and then $40 till show time. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with concert start time at 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited to 200 patrons. All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges. 100 percent of the net proceeds will benefit The Samaritans of RI.
