Martinez scores five in Patriots win

LINCOLN — Davies sophomore forward Ivelisse Martinez scored five goals, while Miqueila Teixeira scored two more and added an assist to lead the Davies girls soccer team to an 11-2 Division III victory over Blackstone Valley Prep Monday afternoon.

Davies (3-0 Division III) grabbed a 5-2 advantage at halftime before scoring six more goals in the second half. Alyza Martinez, Melody Herrarte, Brenna Williams and Jocelyn Aroche also added goals. Melissa Martinez and Martinez each had two assists. Goalie Madeline Brassard made 13 saves and had an assist.

The Patriots are back in action Thursday afternoon at Conley Stadium against Mt. Pleasant

Blackstone Valley Prep received first-half goals from Rachele Segura and Samantha Ortiz-Muriel. Victoria Jakubiak added an assist for the Pride, and goalie Sole Miranda made 13 saves).

Lions shut out Clippers

LINCOLN — For the first time since moving up to Division I in 2014, the Lincoln girls soccer team defeated rival Cumberland.

Junior forward Lily Loparto scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 19th minute, and freshman Riley Specht and Sarah Fellingham added second-half goals in a 3-0 Division I victory at Ferguson Field.

Lincoln (3-1-2 Division I) goalies Jackie Andrews and Sam Jarry combined on the squad’s second shutout.

Cumberland (3-2-1 Division I) has a full week to figure out what went wrong Monday because the Clippers head to Bend Street Field in Warwick to face Toll Gate Monday night.

Prario keeps Broncos unbeaten

WOONSOCKET — Sam Prario one-timed an Aliza Richard cross with four minutes left in Monday afternoon’s showdown with Mount St. Charles to lead undefeated Burrillvil­le to a 1-0 road win.

The Broncos nearly lost their perfect record in the final minute when a free kick went past goalie Nicole Ethier, but leading scorer Victoria Patriarca was on hand to clear the ball off the goal line.

Burrillvil­le (4-0 Division II) begins a three-game home run Friday afternoon against Moses Brown.

“We still have a lot to clean up during this tough stretch,” Burrillvil­le coach Jeff Lavigne said. “We need to get ready for a fast, young Moses Brown team. We’re dealing with injuries to three of our starters.”
