Matthew O. Mousseau

SMITHFIELD — Matthew O. Mousseau, “Papa Moose,” 89, passed away at home Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bridgeton, a son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (McCormick) Mousseau.

Mr. Mousseau was an equipment installer for the former Nynex Phone Co. for 40 years before retiring in 1989. He had lived in Greenville since 1959 and was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving aboard the U.S.S. Grenadier and the U.S.S. Tringa. He was a member of the NRA and the I.B.E.W. Local #99. He was an avid Red Sox, New York Giants and Boston Bruins fan, who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, NASCAR, and being in the outdoors.

He was the father of Theodore “Ted” S. Mousseau and his wife Pauline of Spring Hill, Fla., Michael J. Mousseau and his wife Debbie of North Scituate, Jean H. Mandigo and her husband Jeff of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Michelle “Mickie” M. Mousseau and her husband John Quinn of Culleoka, Tenn. He is also survived by his grandchild­ren, Brandon A., Colton M. and Carissa E. Mousseau, Miranda L. Martin, Brianna J. Fearing, Kailey M. and Emily P. Mandigo; and his greatgrand­children Mason Salois, Makenna Martin and Lilith Fearing. He was the brother of Mary Dwyer, Susan Colburn and the late John Mousseau and Ann Sutherland. Per his request, funeral services and burial will be private.
