Constant with 2 TDs late in Bryant’s 45-40 win over Fordham

SMITHFIELD (AP) — Jean Constant scored twice late in the game to seal the win as Bryant beat Fordham 45-40 on Saturday.

Constant caught an 80-yard scoring pass from Price Wilson after scoring a rushing touchdown on the team's previous drive that put the Bulldogs (2-2) on top for good with 13:16 left in the game.

Wilson finished with 398 yards and two touchdowns passing for the Bulldogs. Isaac McCray ran for 119 yards and two scores and Tom Kennedy scored two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving.

Bryant trailed 34-31 with 2:35 left in the third quarter when Wilson took the team 79 yards in 11 plays and Constant scored from the 3 to put the Bulldogs up 38-34.

On the team's next possession, Wilson hit Constant on third-and-12 for an 80-yard touchdown and Bryant led 45-34 with 10:37 left to play.

Kevin Anderson threw for 366 yards and five touchdowns for the Rams (1-3).

Harvard rolls over Brown 45-28 in Ivy League opener

BOSTON ( AP) — Jake Smith became the first Harvard freshman to start at quarterbac­k since 2001 and threw for a score in the Crimson's 4528 victory over Brown in an Ivy League opener Saturday.

Smith led a first-quarter drive for the game's first touchdown, a 16-yard run by Charlie Booker III, and threw his first career touchdown pass, a 5yarder to Cecil Williams II in the fourth quarter. Smith is the first freshman to start at quarterbac­k for Harvard ( 1- 1, 1-0) since Ryan Fitzpatric­k, now in his 13th year in the NFL.

Smith shared time with senior Joe Viviano, who was 11 of 13 for 150 yards. Booker scored two of Harvard's four rushing touchdowns. The Crimson defense picked off three Nicholas Duncan passes, including a 39-yard score by Tanner Lee.

Thomas Linta threw for three touchdowns and ran for another, all in the fourth quarter, for the Bears (1-1, 0-1), who gained only 23 yards rushing. Linta finished 20 of 25 for 253 yards

Knight has career day with 4 TDs, New Hampshire beats URI

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Trevor Knight hit Neil O'Connor on a 76-yard scoring strike early in the fourth quarter to secure New Hampshire's 28-14 win over the University of Rhode Island before a record crowd of 22,135 on Saturday.

Facing a third-and-11 from his own 24 with a one-point lead, Knight found O'Connor in the open and he sprinted in for the score.

On their next series Knight passed to Malik Love from the 24 to go up 28-14 with 8:26 left.

Knight hit Donald Goodrich on a 23-yard pass play to set up the scoring strike.

Knight, who threw for a careerhigh 420 yards and three touchdowns, rushed for another score for the Wildcats (3-1 2-0 Colonial Athletic Associatio­n). O'Connor had 232 yards receiving.

Rhode Island (1-3, 0-2) stalled in the fourth quarter as on the second play after Love's score Isiah Perkins intercepte­d Tyler Harris.

Harris threw for 257 yards and one touchdown.
