1952Halfba­ck Andy Boyle of the Pawtucket West football team will be forced to remain in the Kent County Hospital “three or four days” due to a spinal injury suffered against Aldrich on Monday according to Dr. Richard Dyer of the hospital staff. Dr. Dyer described Boyle’s injury as “not serious.” “The wings on two of the vertebrae have been knocked off and he will be out for the season. However, the injury will not be a lasting one and Boyle should be able to play next year.”

1962Coach Dick Lynch’s high-powered offensive outfit was outscored by undefeated Barrington as Cumberland dropped a 27-21 Eastern Division decision. The Clippers tallied on a two-yard plunge by halfback Bob LaFlamme, a 17-yard aerial from QB Dick Carr (eight of 20 for 103 yards) to end Leroy Cooney and a one-yard buck by fullback Warren Procter. Outstandin­g in the Cumberland defensive wall were tackles Bob Mason and John Akucewicz and guard Bob Porter as well as linebacker Procter and LaFlamme in the secondary.

1972Coach Paul Dalpe’s victory-starved Lincoln eleven ended a 17-game winless steak with a solid 28-0 blanking of Johnston to climax Homecoming Day festivitie­s for the Lions in a Class B Large Schools contest. Lincoln’s touchdowns were tallied by halfback Chick Robertson on a 32-yard scamper and a one-yard plunge, John Shalpak’s six-yard run and a 12-yard pass from sophomore QB Greg Belanger to Steve Orzechowic­z. Joe Donzilla booted two PAT and Orzechowic­z added a two-point conversion toss from Robertson.
