String quartet to perform in Franklin Sunday
FRANKLIN — LiveARTS, the noted concert series in Franklin, announces the second concert of its 15th season. The LiveARTS String Quartet will play music of Mozart, Shostakovich, and Brahms on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m. at the First Universalist Society (262 Chestnut Street, Franklin).
The program will include the Mozart Quartet in F Major, K. 590, Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 8 in C Minor, and the Quartet in A Minor, Opus 51, by Brahms. These are major pillars of the string quartet repertoire from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
The LiveARTS String Quartet gave its first concert in October 2009. The players are Katherine Winterstein and Gregory Vitale, violins; Donald Krishnaswami, viola; and Jan Müller-Szeraws, cello.
LiveARTS, a Franklin-based chamber music concert series, is dedicated to presenting classical music featuring outstanding Boston-area and national musicians in a local setting. All concerts take place at 3 p.m. in the Meetinghouse of the First Universalist Society in Franklin at 262 Chestnut St. Located in a beautiful natural setting, the Meetinghouse is accessible for all.
LiveARTS strives to offer tickets at an affordable price. Tickets can be purchased online at www.liveartsma.org, or at the door. Tickets are $15 for seniors (60-plus) and $20 for adults. In support of LiveARTS’ mission to bring great classical music to young people, students under 18 are admitted free.
