Expect a miraculous intervention shortly

- CATHERINE GALASSO-VIGORITO Catherine Galasso-Vigorito is a syndicated faith columnist. Her columns run in The Call and The Times every Saturday.

Sitting by her daughter’s hospital bed, an exhausted mother finally dozed off to sleep. Her 9 monthold baby girl had a 104 degree fever and was pale and still. A virus had ravaged the girl’s tiny body. Frightened and confused, the family prayed and prayed for the baby’s recovery.

Just past midnight, the mother was awakened by a weak cry. She looked toward the baby girl’s crib. And a sense of calm came over the mother, as she saw an elderly, smiling woman gently rocking the peaceful baby in her arms. “It’s a hospital volunteer,” the mother thought to herself. Then, she slowly drifted back to sleep.

The next morning, feeling refreshed, the mother put her hand on the baby’s forehead. She found it to be cool. Anurse took the baby’s temperature and confirmed that the fever had broken!

So thankful, the mother asked the nurse, “What was the name of the elderly volunteer who was here around midnight?” Quite matter-of-factly, the nurse replied, “We don’t have any volunteers at that time of night.”

Do you need a miracle? Are you searching for answers? Or, perhaps, there are issues in your life that are yet to be resolved.

Be at peace, for God has everything in control. Turn all circumstances over to Him. The answer to what you face may not come exactly as you have planned. And maybe not the moment you ask. Yet, in God’s own way and in God’s own time, He will give you your miracle.

A friend of mine who has recently overcome some tremendous difficulties had this suggestion, “When uncertainties bombard you, recall that God is your refuge; He’s all-powerful and stronger than anything you could face. Do not be dissuaded. Expect a miraculous intervention.”

Remember, God is holding you in the palm of His hand.

• I read in Matthew 9:2729, how Jesus healed two blind men, and in a second, their lives were forever changed. Right now, God is pouring out blessings on your life. Today is your new beginning.

• In Luke 5:3-10, Jesus asked Simon to push their boat out a little into the water and let down his nets. Soon, the nets were so full of fish, they began to tear. Stay the course. God is ready to give you abundantly more than you can ask or think.

• It says in Matthew 5-7, that Jesus came down the hillside, and a leper approached Him pleading, “If You want to, You can heal me.” Jesus touched the man, and, he was made well. God has not brought you this far to leave you now. A miracle is coming your way. God is going to help you, heal you, and give you the desires of your heart.

Therefore, pray and put your hope in God. Stand tall, look up, and have the courage to face the future with determination and fortitude. If you tried to balance a book on your head and walked with your head tilted down, what would happen? The book would fall to the floor. Now, place that same book on your head and keep putting one foot in front of the other, with your head held high, and looking straight ahead. You can balance that book perfectly.

It is the same concept when trials try to overtake us and we feel alone. If we keep standing strong, with our head held high, and continuing to walk directly ahead, before long, we will triumph over those trials. When we change our approach from doubt to hope, positive things can begin to happen. Hence, be expecting your miracle. For with God on your side, you will have the victory.

A while back, a reader wrote and explained how she was driving to a college class in a blinding storm. “I took a left turn across a four lane highway during the morning rush hour. In the midst of that dangerous position, my car stalled. It would not start again. Terrified, I expected to be hit at any moment, visibility was so poor. I placed my head on the steering wheel and prayed, “Father, please help me. Bring me a miracle.”

“Instantly, a man knocked on my window. He said, “Put your foot on the accelerator all the way to the floor, and your car will start.”

Her letter continued, “In five seconds, my car started right up. I turned to say thank you, but there was no one there. There was no man walking at 7 a.m. in a blinding snowstorm in the middle of a four lane highway. There was no stopped car. The man did not even hang around to receive praise for himself or even to be thanked.”

Like this reader, many miracles begin in prayer. And my prayer for you is that God’s love fills your hearts with joy and peace. For the same Lord who performed miracles then, stands ready to perform a miracle for you today. When we truly thank God for the little miracles faithfully, then when the big ones are needed, God will automatically supply them.

One of my favorite quotes is from the 18th Century Minister, William Law:

“If anyone could tell you the shortest, surest way to all happiness and perfection, he must tell you to make it a rule to yourself to thank and praise God for everything that happens to you. For it is certain that whatever seeming commodity happens to you, if you thank and praise God for it, you turn it into a blessing.”

I think about the sweet, grey kitten that we adopted to come home and live with us. In an instant, the kitten went from being alone and abandoned, with little hope for the future, to being safe and secure, with a family who loves and will take care of him. It is the same thing with God, our Father. We may feel alone and abandoned, but He can fill the emptiness, He can heal the hurts, and fill the void. At this moment, His arms are around your shoulder, patiently leading, strengthening and guiding, walking forward with you down the path of success that He has arranged.

So expect a miraculous intervention. God loves you and His love never fails.
