1967John Graham, Lincoln’s hard-hitting fullback, is dominating the Blackstone Valley schoolboy groundgain­ers with 490 yards on 79 attempts for an average of 6.2 yards/carry. Rounding out the top five rushers are Pawtucket West’s Stew Shaffer (361 yards), Charlie St. Peter of Cumberland (361), Saint Raphael Academy’s Ron Silva (308) and in fifth place is Tolman’s fleet-footed halfback Al Scanlon with 271 yards on 61 carries. Tommy O’Connor, Cumberland’s 5-9, 145-pound field general, leads the Valley with 728 passing yards and nine aerial touchdowns.

John Kenney gained 101 yards on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns and QB Frank Rodriguez rushed for one TD and passed for another to lead Central Falls to a 31-6 rout of Central to stay atop the Class C-One standings with a 6-1 record. Kenney tallied his touchdowns on jaunts of 19 and 17 yards and on a 54-yard punt return, while Rodriguez scored on a 19-yard run and passed 10 yards to Joaquim Veiga to complete the Warriors’ TD parade. Ric Lanham and Tony Albuquerqu­e each recovered fumbles and Brian Goodhart, John Santos and Steve Anter led the defense.

1987Scott Rzewuski tallied two goals to pace Burrillvil­le to a strong 5-1 win over coach Eric Cloutier’s Tolman boys’ soccer team to advance to the Small-Division championsh­ip final against Central Falls. The Broncos, who are now 16-1-3, also received goals from J. R. Desjarlais, Joe England and Craig Bannon, while the Tigers’ lone goal was tallied by John Fidalgo. Goaltender Kevin Cahill, who has posted 12 shutouts including six in a row prior to entering the semifinal tilt with Tolman, had seven saves, and Tiger keeper Maurice Toro made 16, several of the highlight-film variety.
