1967Former Tolman All-State quarterback Larry Caswell, now a junior field general for URI, has been a busy operator this season having completed 110 passes in 240 attempts for a total of 1,434 yards and 10 touchdowns while throwing only one interception in eight games. A couple of Yankee Conference records are within his reach. Larry’s 65 completions is only four short of the record 69 and his passing yardage of 789 is only 110 yards short of the record held by Greg Landry of UMASS. Caswell’s favorite target has been his longtime childhood friend and former Tolman receiver Frank Geiselman, who has caught 37 aerials for 645 yards and seven TDs.

1977Coach Jim Deffley’s Cumberland eleven will renew its Thanksgiving Day rivalry with Woonsocket when they meet for 13th time with the Villa Novans holding a 5-4-3 edge. The Clippers will be without running back Gil Sabourin and end Henry Ferreira, both nursing injured legs, while making their high school football farewell appearance will be sparkplug running back Kevin Hereth and his teammates in the trenches, linemen Tom Mazzone, Chuck Bourgery, Ed Barrett, Don Norris and John Marsland.

1987QB Mike Murray riddled Bishop Hendricken’s secondary tossing two touchdowns and two PAT conversions as Cumberland swept to its five consecutive victory with a 22-0 blanking over the Hawks to improve to 6-2 in Class A-One play. Murray had TD aerials of 22 yards to Chris Plamondon and 11 yards to Dave Small along with PAT passes to both Small and Plamondon. Eric Rhyno, who rushed for 81 yards on just five carries, had the other Clipper tally on a 30-yard scamper.
