St. Agatha’s Meeting of Dec. 13

WOONSOCKET— A total of 60 members of St. Agatha Seniors celebrated Christmas with a chicken parm dinner.

Pastor Michael Kelley and Charles Desaulniers entertained the members with Christmas Carols.

The pastor presided over the installations of the officers for the year 2018. They are:

President: Gerard Robidoux; First VP: Martha Cote; Second VP: Lucille Galipeau and Secretary: Frances Roy.

The trustees are: Marguerite Deragon, Roger Roy and Jeanne Theroux. A special election will be held on Jan. 3 for Treasurer. Winners of the Monthly Club are: Steven Chamberlin $100; Albertine Deweirdt, Lucille Galipeau $50; Muriel Turcotte, Marguerite. Deragon, Estelle Legare, Jeannette Cousineau $25; Aline Durand, Marcel Cote, Sister Beatrice Bonin and Normand Piette $10.

Door prize winners were Lucille Galipeau, Simone Remillard, Muriel Bouthillette and Muriel Lussier. Winners of the raffle were Lucille Lavoie, Doris Burrows, Aline Durand and Claudette Desaulniers.

Celebrating birthdays for the rest of December are Ruth Blais, Doris Pariseau, Roger Roy, Yvette Benetti and Normand Piette. Joseph and Barbara Decristoforo are celebrating their 58th anniversary.

Sunshine Lady Constance Bonin sent a sympathy card to Lucille Lajoie. The club received a thank you card from Jeanne Wall. Secretary Frances Roy read a poem written by Lance Corporal James M. Schmidt about a lonely soldier alone on Christmas Eve visited by Santa Claus. The members donated $100 to the New Beginnings Soup Kitchen and $55 to the Milk Fund. Winners of the special Bingo games were Muriel Turcotte, Jeannette Cousineau, Yvette Benetti, Marguerite Coulombe and Jeanne Barry. Constance Seider was the caller.

Pitch winners were Martha Cote, Marcel Hebert, Claudette Desaulniers, Bernard Dubois, George Racine and Dave Lavallee. Members were reminded to check with radio stations WWON and WNRI for any cancellations of meetings due to the weather. The next scheduled meeting will be on Jan. 3.
