Uxbridge school officials prepare to hire new superinten­dent

UXBRIDGE – School officials here say if all goes according to plan, a new school superinten­dent will be appointe ed by March 22. w

The $135,000 to 160,000 per year 0 job has been advertised and applicag tions have been received. The School Committee has also engaged the Massachuse­tts Associatio­n of School Committees as its search consultant to assist with the process.

In addition, a Superinten­dent l Search Committee, composed of ad- ministrato­rs, faculty, parents, commur nity members and School Commit-tee members, has been establishe­d to o screen the applicants, which is scheduled to take place in executive session on Thursday.

The 11-member Screening Committee includes Tom Donahue, parent representa­tive; Leanne DeMarco, McCloskey Middle School principal; Lynne Gaskell, high school teacher; Cheryl Mazzarelli, parent representa­tive; Heidi Happy, School Committee member; Debbie Stark, School Committee member; Hurly Silbor, high school teacher; Nancy Doyle, teacher; Pam Yukna, teacher and union president; Brian Hyde, school district business manager; and Holly Black, parent representa­tive.

The interviews of the semi-finalists will take place on Monday, Feb. 26 through Thursday, March 1. Interviews will begin at 6 p.m. The selection of the finalists will take place after the last interview on March 1.

The three finalists will be formally announced and recommende­d to the School Committee on or about March 6.

After the finalists are announced, the School Committee will make site visits to their districts during the week of March 12 and and then host them in Uxbridge during the week of March 19.

During that week, the School Committee will also hold public interviews with the finalists. The School Committee will then vote to appoint a new superinten­dent on or about March 22.
