Free tax preparation offered by Connecting for Children and Families
WOONSOCKET – Connecting for Children & Families (CCF) has reopened its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site in Woonsocket. The VITA program provides free tax preparation for families with income less than $55,000.
Tax preparers are trained and certified by the IRS to complete both federal and state tax returns. This free service is available Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Fridays 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hope Street Family Center, 46 Hope St., Woonsocket.
Interested people should contact Zoya Tseytlin at 401-766-3384 for more information or an appointment. Once an appointment is arranged, the following items should be brought to the tax preparer:
• Social Security card(s), birth certificates for yourself, spouse and all dependents
• Picture ID for you (and your spouse) if filing a joint return
• All W-2s, 1099s, SSI, TDI, Unemployment and FIP
• Copy of your 2017 Federal Tax Return if available
• Child and Dependent Care Expenses – Tax ID number (SSN, EIN) of the care provider
• For Direct Deposit, bring a check or savings account number with routing number
• For property tax relief – only for disabled receiving Social Security or 65/ older, please bring three 2017 rent receipts, full name, phone number and address of landlord, all household income, SS Statement or award letter
• HealthSource RI information for premium tax credits and proof of insurance for all coverage
