Robbers grab dough at city Dunkin’
WOONSOCKET – Police are investigating back-toback armed robberies at two Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the city that occurred on each of the last two Saturday nights.
Detective Capt. Michael Lemoine said police are still trying to determine whether the two robberies are connected to each other or, possibly, other crimes in the area.
“We’re not ruling it out,” said Lemoine. “We’re looking at the circumstances in both situations. Fortunately, no one was injured and the weapons used in both cases were something other than firearms.”
The most recent incident occurred at the Dunkin’ Donuts located in Park Square about 10:20 p.m. Saturday. The perpetrator was described as a white male who came into the coffee shop brandishing a butcher knife, demanding all the money in the cash registers.
The robber was wearing a gray hoodie and a mask covering his nose and mouth.
A week earlier, at about 8 p.m., a man entered the Dunkin’ Donuts located at 711 Front St., wielding a crowbar. He was wearing a black hat with a white logo, blue jeans, a gray longsleeved shirt and a black shirt covering his face. Witnesses said he could have been either white or Latino.
He, too, asked for all the money in the cash registers.
In both cases, Lemoine said, the perpetrator fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Anyone with information that might help police identify the person or persons responsible for these crimes is urged to contact the Woonsocket Police Department’s Detective Division at 767-8725.
