Woonsocket police arrests pair in lot cited as drug use hotbed
WOONSOCKET – Police said they caught two people from Burrillville as they were getting ready to smoke crack cocaine in a vehicle parked in a Cass Avenue lot that’s been a source of complaints about illegal drug activity from neighbors.
Wendy Ann Riccitelli, 49, and Daniel DuBreuil, 58, were arrested about 3: 30 p. m. on Friday, after police investigated a report of possible drug use in a lot shared by Kay’s Restaurant and CVS Health. Riccitelli and DuBreuil both gave police the same address, 375 Mowry
St., though they apparently arrived in separate vehicles – Riccitelli, a 2017 Cadillac sedan, and DeBreuil, a Ford F- 550 dump truck.
When several officers arrived, Patrolman Michael S. Martinsen said Riccitelli was sitting behind the wheel of her car and DeBreuil was in the passenger seat, holding a glass crack pipe in one hand and a cigarette lighter in the other. Riccittelli allegedly had a makeshift pipe fashioned out of a bottle tucked between her legs.
After a brief investigation, police said they found a rock- like bit of crack inside the bowl of the pipe that DeBreuil was holding. Also, they located a small glassine baggie that contained crack inside a pocketbook that was resting on the trunk of Riccitelli’s vehicle.
Riccittelli and DuBreuil are both free on $ 1,000 personal recognizance after an appearance in Sixth District Court, Providence, according to the judiciary’s web site. They’re due back in court for another hearing on Aug. 7.
The lot, bordered by Cass Avenue, Mendon Road and Dana Street, has been the source of multiple complaints about drug activity of late.
One Dana Street resident appeared before the City Council at least twice to plead for more police patrols, describing in graphic detail about finding used hypodermic syringes in the parking lot and watching drug addicts ingest drugs intravenously in their motor vehicles.
