Blais, Adeyeye pitch Woonsocket to win

-

WOONSOCKET — Woonsocket junior starter Harrison Blais struck out six batters and allowed just one run in 6.2 innings of work to earn the victory in the Villa Novans’ 2-1 Division II win over West Warwick Monday afternoon at Renaud Field.

Blais exited the game with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh inning, but junior Hezekiah Adeyeye earned the save with a strikeout.

Zach Lorusso and Roger Bissonnette each had key hits for the Novans, while Latrell Lopez and senior Colin Godfrin played steller defense.

Woonsocket (8-9 Division II) closes out the regular season on May 24 at two-time defending D-II champion Ponaganset.

SMITHFIELD — Smithfield took advantage of three errors in the fourth inning to score five runs in a 7-4 Division II home victory over Tolman Monday afternoon.

“The fourth inning was a tough one,” Tolman coach Theo Murray said. “[Smithfield starting pitcher Jake] McDonough had us out in front early in the game and we didn’t adjust. We just made too many errors.”

Tolman received a single, a double, an RBI and a run scored from junior Izaiah Rivera.
