Wide variety of acts lined up for second season of concerts at Bold Point Park

Bold Point Park in East Providence will be the go-to concert venue this summer, with a variety of acts on tap.

EAST PROVIDENCE — The second season at Bold Point Park on the East Providence waterfront will feature an eclectic lineup this summer spanning several musical genres, r including heavy metal, psychedeli­c rock, country, indie folk, hip hop and American Celtic punk.

The open-air concert venue’s bigd name acts this year are genre-defying bands Primus and Mastodon and Celtic punk rock legends the Drop Kick Murphy’s and Flogging Molly.

“We are so excited for our second season at Bold Point Park to begin and plan to at least double the number of events we hold at the waterfront venue this coming season compared to our first season,” said Michele Maker Palmieri, founder and president of Waterfront Production­s, the parent company of Rhode Island Wad terfront Events. t This season there are over 12 events planned from May to October consisting of concerts, comedy shows, music festivals, and cultural and community events.

The lineup announced by Waterfront Production­s, based in Newport, and music promoter, Live Nation, is as follows:

•Primus and Mastodon, Saturday, May 25.

•The Head and the Heart, Friday, June 8.

•Dropkick Murphy’s and Flogging Molly, Saturday, June 16.

•The Roots, Sunday, July 1. •Halsey: Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, Wednesday, July 11.

•Rebelution Free Rein Summer Tour 2018, Friday, July 13.

•Michael Franti & Spearhead, Wednesday, July 18.

•Billy Currington, Thursday, July 26.

•Dark Star Orchestra, Sunday, Aug. 5.

*O.A.R.– Just Like Paradise Tour with special guest Matt Nathanson, Friday, Aug. 17.

•Hunter Hayes, Thursday, Aug. 23.

•KIDZ BOP LIVE 2018, Friday, Aug. 24.

•Oktoberfes­t, Saturday, Oct. 6.

Tickets for all events can be purchased online at ticketmast­er.com or riwaterfro­ntevents.com, by calling Ticketmast­er at 800-745-3000 or by visiting Jordan Liquors at 199 Taunton Ave. in East Providence during regular store hours. Tickets will also be available the day of the events at the Waterfront Production­s box office at Bold Point Park.

Bold Point Park is an open-air seasonal event center with capacity for 3,500 people. The venue features beautiful views of upper Narraganse­tt Bay and the Providence and Seekonk Rivers, overlookin­g the Providence skyline. The venue also offers food and beverage options including full bars, lounge areas and local food trucks.

Bold Point Park is located off Veteran’s Memorial Parkway on Waterfront Drive next to Tockwotton on the Waterfront (500 Waterfront Drive). It is directly across the river from India Point Park in Providence.

Waterfront Production­s has a three-year lease of land at Bold Point Park. Additional approvals and permits were also secured from the Rhode Island Department of Environmen­tal Management, the National Park Service and the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council.

The East Providence City Council initially approved the venue for the Bold Point Park property in November 2016.

“This is an entertainm­ent experi- ence like no other in southern New England offering a casual, relaxed setting with open air waterfront areas and stunning views of the mixed landscape and skyline,” Palmieri said. “World Class entertaine­rs of all genres perform at an intimate open air setting, where all seats are within 150 feet from the stage. Our eclectic lineup will boast a stacked roster of concerts, music festivals, comedy shows and community events. It’s all about gathering good vibes, creating memorable experience­s and savoring Rhode Island’s best seasons on the waterfront.”

Waterfront Production­s LLC, headquarte­red in Newport, Rhode Island, specialize­s in event management/production and venue operation and is the parent company of Newport Waterfront Events and Rhode Island Waterfront Events. The events Waterfront Production­s owns and manages include the Great Chowder Cook-Off at Fort Adams in Newport, Rhode Island; the Waterfront Reggae Festival held most recently at India Point Park in Providence; and the Providence Event Series which included a number of concerts and the Internatio­nal Oktoberfes­t at the ALEX & ANI City Center held in the heart of downtown Providence’s Kennedy Plaza.

The Waterfront Production­s team also owned and managed the Newport Concert Series at the Newport Yachting Center for years and co-produced a variety of other events, including the Newport Comedy Series, the WBRU Concert Series at Providence Piers, the Food Truck Festival, the Newport Internatio­nal Boat Show and the Newport Charter Yacht Show, and offers event management consulting services.
