WOONSOCKET – Police say twin brothers attacked each other with a hammer Sunday, leaving them bruised, bloodied and in the hospital.

Jarrod L. Raymond and Brandon Raymond, both 25, of 113 Transit St., were booked on one count each of domestic assault with a deadly weapon after the incident, which occurred in their thirdfloor apartment.

Police said only Brandon and household members other than Jarrod were home when,

about 1:20 a.m., officers arrived at the Transit Street residence for a report of an assault with a victim requiring medical attention. Police said they found Brandon bleeding from his knee and head, his arms were scratched, shirt torn, and there was a hammer lying on the floor.

He was transported Landmark Medical Center, where he told Officer Sean Rochette that his brother attacked him with a hammer after the two had an argument about Jarrod’s plans to take a vacation in Puerto Rico.

Brandon said his brother had called him on the phone shortly before the altercation and the two had an argument about the vacation. Brandon said he told his brother he believed he didn’t intend to return from Puerto Rico and wanted him to sign over the lease of the apartment to him. His brother abruptly cut off the conversation and told him they’d talk when he came home.

When Jarrod arrived, the feud heated up and became

physical. At one point, Brandon told police, Jarrod went into another room and returned with a hammer, using it to strike him repeatedly about the head and body.

A woman who was also in the house appeared to corroborate Brandon’s story.

Meanwhile, Jarrod fled the apartment before police arrived and they had no idea where he’d gone. They were prepared to issue an all-points bulletin for his car, but they soon learned that he had driven himself to Landmark Medical Center.

Police said Jarrod had red welts and bruises all over his back, head and arms – wounds he claimed were the result of his brother repeatedly striking him with a hammer.

Police ended up arrested both of them on the felony domestic assault charges. In addition, Jarrod was also charged with domestic disorderly conduct.

Brandon and Jarrod are twins, police say, although Brandon sometimes uses the last name Cintron.
