LINCOLN — A Woonsocket woman is facing charges of drunk driving at more than three times the legal limit while traveling in

Lincoln Woods State Park with five children in her vehicle.

Leah Beatriz Duran, 41, of

144 Park Place, was arrested about 3:15 Wednesday afternoon after a member of the beach staff notified park police that a woman suspected of being intoxicated was preparing to leave the park in her minivan with the children, ages 7 months to 10 years old, according to Col. Ann Assumpico, superintendent of the state police.

When officers from the Department of Environmental Management confronted Duran, she allegedly backed into one of the officers’ trucks in an attempt to flee. No one was injured.

Troopers from the Lincoln Woods barracks later arrested Duran for driving under the influence. Assumpico said Breathalyzer readings showed her blood alcohol content (BAC) to be .279 and .277 on two successive tests. It’s unlawful to drive with a BAC higher than .08.

Duran was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, first offense, BAC .15 or greater, with a child under the age of 13; and driving on a suspended license. She was also cited for operating a motor vehicle without evidence of insurance; failure to maintain control of a vehicle; and failure to carry an operator’s permit for exhibit to police on demand.

She was booked at the Lincoln Woods barracks and released pending an appearance in Third District Court on July 24.
