PAWTUCKET — A Woonsocket man and a North Providence woman are facing several charges for allegedly luring a Pawtucket man to a parking lot under the pretense of meeting for sex and then allegedly stabbing him several times, police said.

Pawtucket Police last Friday morning were dispatched to 181

Garden St. for a reported stabbing.

A 28-year-old man had been stabbed several times, and he told police that he had been contacted on social media by an unknown woman to meet for a sexual encounter, police said. The woman picked him up and drove him to a parking lot near Taft

Street, where he was allegedly ambushed and stabbed several times by a man, police said.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released, police said.

Following a week-long investigation by Pawtucket Police Det. Robert Cardente, the pair of suspects were identified. Police identified the man as Armando Gonzalez, 31, of Woonsocket, and he was taken into custody on Thursday by the Violent Fugitive Task Force, police said. Gonzalez’s alleged accomplice, identified as Christine Araujo, 29, of North Providence, was also taken into custody.

Both Gonzalez and Araujo were charged with assault with intent to commit murder, felony assault, conspiracy, and disorderly conduct, police said. Gonzalez was arraigned in Sixth District Court on Thursday and Araujo is scheduled to be arraigned this morning, police said.
