Fox25 broadcast coming to Uxbridge for a ‘Zip Trip’

UXBRIDGE – Boston 25’s Zip Trip series is coming to Uxbridge.

The network will broadcast live from River Bend Farm at the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park, 287 Oak St., on Friday from 6 to 10 a.m.

Hosted by anchors Gene Lavanchy, Elizabeth Hopkins, Sara Underwood, Daniel Miller, Julie Grauert, meteorolog­ist Shiri Spear and Boston 25 Around Town Host Michele Lazcano, the weekly broadcasts mix live interviews, taped segments and interestin­g guests, according to the network.

The morning team is visiting 10 cities and towns across Massachuse­tts this summer to celebrate the 15th season of Zip Trips. Stops include Peabody, Weymouth, Fitchburg, Franklin, Medford, Uxbridge, Chatham, East Boston, Billerica and Duxbury.

Attendees at the Uxbridge Zip Trip on Friday are asked to bring a healthy box of cereal to benefit the People First Food Pantry.

The live broadcasts are a Boston 25 Morning News tradition. Each Zip Trip is a mix of live interviews, interestin­g guests and taped segments that capture the spirit of local communitie­s and the people who live there.

Every Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. the network showcases the best of the places it visits including fun things to do, restaurant­s and plenty of hidden gems, and little known facts.

The morning team has visited 235 cities and towns during the long-running Zip Trips series.

“Each Zip Trip gives residents ‘bragging rights’ and a chance to share what makes their hometown a great place to live,” the network said in announcing the Uxbridge Zip Trip on Friday. “Neighbors, residents and kids of all ages are invited to share their community pride and be part of Boston 25’s live audience.”

Zip Trip activities include: DCU Hometown Hero: Meet the local hero who helps out whenever needed and is making a difference in their community.

Town Tour: The BOSTON25 team explores the best eats, must-see attraction­s, hidden gems, and little known landmarks

Home Town Team: A salute to a youth or senior team ranging from baseball and soccer to the local running club.

On the Market: Preview homes for sale in the area and hear about schools, services and recreation.

Firehouse Fridays: The local fire station and firefighte­rs will be honored for all they do.

Zip Trip Fan of the Week: BOSTON25 News will pick someone from the crowd with true “Zip Trip Spirit” as their Fan of the Week.

High Speed Deal: On-site scavenger hunt game for Zip Trip attendees.
