NORTH SMITHFIELD – Rita C. (Meyette) Greenough, 94, of North Smithfield, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, in St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Henry L. Greenough. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Lydia (Lareau) Meyette. Rita worked for Electric Maintenanc­e before marrying and taking time to raise her family. She later continued her career as a bookkeeper with Getchell & Son, Smithfield. Rita studied painting, and taught locally for a few years. She was a communican­t of St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of its Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Mount St. Charles Mothers Club, the North Smithfield Seniors, St. Aidan’s Seniors, Cumberland, and the Red Hat Society. She was a former member of the North Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Rita enjoyed line dancing, and taught it at the Woonsocket Senior Center, where she was also a volunteer. She also enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and bowling. She leaves four sons, Gerard P. Greenough and his wife Pauline H. of Attleboro, Donald T. Greenough and his wife Paulette Y. of Slatersvil­le, David F. Greenough and his wife Linda M. of Lincoln, and Roger W. Greenough and his wife Teel of Nasonville; seven grandchild­ren; and 13 great-grandchild­ren. She was predecease­d by her grandson, Jason J. Greenough. Her funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersvil­le. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
