WOONSOCKET — The Downtown Woonsocket Collaborative has announced the second annual dinner on the bridge event, 'Twilight on the Blackstone.' The unique night of food and music will take place on the Veterans Memorial Bridge on Court Street, a historic landmark venue set 100 feet above the Blackstone River. The event is the main fundraiser for DWC, a nonprofit board of Main Street enthusiasts dedicated to the revitalization and promotion of the downtown area. The event will take place on Saturday Aug. 25, 6 to 10 p.m., with a rain date of Aug. 26. A multi-course dinner will be served featuring local businesses. Champ's Diner will start things off this year with a stuffed mushroom appetizer, then local favorite Krakow Deli will be serving a medley of its favorite polish foods, and soon-to-open Wicked Eatz will serve some tasty barbecue sliders. A cash bar will be provided by Ciro's Tavern with a specialty cocktail for the evening. The Honey Shop will be on hand as well to treat guests to some delicious dessert. Cocktail hour will start at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be available all night, until 10 p.m., and dancing is encouraged. “Many residents and visitors drive over the Court Street bridge every day but never actually stop to appreciate the beauty and history of the area” notes DWC Promotions Chair Melissa Murray. “Not only will guests be able to enjoy the river and the beautiful historic architecture of downtown while they dine, but they will also get a taste of some of the best restaurants in the city.” DWC Chairman Garrett Mancieri says, "This event was so successful last year that people begged us to bring it back". “With your purchase of tickets or sponsorship,” he added, “you are helping DWC continue its work of promoting and revitalizing the downtown area to make it an ideal destination for businesses and residents. Our board and volunteers grow every year and we are thrilled to see more and more momentum building to improve our downtown area." Tickets are available on our website (www.dwc02895. com). Individual tickets are $75 per person, couples $140, or a table of eight for $480. Event sponsorships are available by contacting a DWC board member. DWC is a 501c3 organization and tax advantages may apply for the purchase of tickets and sponsorships.
